Welcome to YCM Legends Series - January 2011!

Welcome all to the second YCM Legends Series tournament, the first of 2012! We're back after our previous tournament in November, with twice the amount of participants this time. We look forward to bringing all of the coverage you need throughout this event. Expect feature matches, deck profiles, quick questions, and other relevant articles!

The tournament this time will contain seven rounds, with a cut to Top 16, with prizes for Top 4/8!
With the new year also comes new decktypes! Several decks are made playable in this tournament due to the inclusion of Order of Chaos and Duel Terminal 13-14!

Inzektor

This is our first, and one of the most hyped, new deck entering the ring! This deck can create some powerful plays utilizing Inzektor  Dragonfly and Inzektor Centipede. With Inzektor Hornet destroying several cards on the field and Inzektor Giga-Mantis contributing to swarming the field, this deck is a force to be reckoned with. However, with extreme strength comes extreme weakness. While these combos may seem easy to pull off with good results, they're frail to things that negate effects, such as Effect Veiler, Fiendish Chain, and Evolzar Dolkka. Other duelists in this tournament should look out for this deck and make sure they know how to handle them.

Verz Rabbit

Looks like Rescue Rabbit might be coming back with a vengeance! The new Duel Terminal set introduces the Verz, an archetype of corrupted Duel Terminal monsters. One of the most notable monsters is Verz Heliotrope, a normal DARK Rock-Type monster with 1950 ATK. How is this notable, you might ask? Well Heliotrope gives Rescue Rabbit players access to new powerful Xyz Monsters. The first being Verz Bahamut, who can discard a Verz or Steelswarm monster from your hand to take control of one of your opponent's monsters, permanently! Bahamut's effect can really change the game if you think you're in a winning position, so he should be looked out for. There's also Verz Ophion, who is essentially the equivalent to Archlord Kristya in this deck. As long as Ophion has Xyz Materials, neither player can Special Summon Level 5 or higher monsters! This card can easily control the gamestate similarly to another DARK Xyz Monster, Steelswarm Roach, only it shuts down Special Summons from being attempted, and it has a stronger body than Roach. This deck certainly has some nifty tricks up its sleeve, which you'll find out about in the tournament!

The Sacred

Another Duel Terminal archetype is getting attention lately, and it's The Sacred. The Sacred are a group of LIGHT monsters that resolve around Xyz Summoning as fast as possible. The most notable one for doing this is The Sacred Kaust, who can raise and decrease the Level of any The Sacred monster you control, making Xyz Summoning a breeze. One of the notable things that Kaust can summon is The Sacred Pleiades. The Sacred Pleiades is a Rank 5 Xyz Monster that can bounce any card on the field once per turn by detaching a material. And what makes this better is that this effect can also be used on your opponent's turn! If you don't get to an out to Pleiades fast, things will be ended quickly by the deck's other combos.

Gem-Knights

This archetype really isn't that new to begin with, but its recent support has brought it into the light. Gem-Knights revolve around Fusion Monsters, similarly to Elemental HEROes. Gem-Knight Fusion can be recycled from the Graveyard by removing any Gem-Knight that is also in your Graaveyard, so that lets the deck spam several Fusion Monsters in one turn. Using cards like Gem-Knight Obsidian and Gem-Knight Lazuli, a Gem-Knight player can recycle their Normal Monsters, letting them summon even more Fusion Monsters. The deck also gains strength from Rescue Rabbit, which can grab normal Gem-Knights from your deck for your fusions.

Stay tuned players, Round 1 pairings will be posted soon, so look out for them!
