The first coverage match of byak's YCM Legends Tourney match is between Shard YouProbablyKnowMeOnYcmBecauseImBadAtYgo (Shard) and Olly Problem (Kyosuke Kiryu)! Both duelists have their skill reputations known to the general public, so let's see what kind of duel they bring us!
Olly is playing Plant Synchro and Shard is playing Dark World

After the Rock Paper Scissors match, where Olly emerges triumphant, the card game begins!

Game 1

Olly opens with Thunder King Rai-Oh and a Set card.

Shard Normal Summons Fabled Raven and activates its effect, discarding Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World to increase its Level by 1 and ATK by 400 until the End Phase. Grapha's effect targets and destroys Olly's Set Mystical Space Typhoon. Shard activates the Field Spell The Gates of Dark World, giving Fiend-Type Fabled Raven the 300 extra points it needed to overcome Rai-Oh in battle. Shard ends his turn.

(Olly LP: 7900)

Olly activates Monster Reborn, Special Summoning Shard's Grapha to his field. Then he Normal Summons Reborn Tengu. Grapha attacks Fabled Raven, dealing 1400 damage to Shard, and Reborn Tengu attacks directly. Olly ends.

(Shard LP: 4900)

Shard Normal Summons Sangan and uses his own Monster Reborn to Special Summon his Fabled Raven from the Graveyard. He sets a card to his Spell and Trap Card Zone before he Synchs his Level 2 Raven and Level 3 Sangan for TG Hyper Librarian. Sangan's effect searches for Tour Guide of the Underworld. Librarian destroys Tengu, and Olly Summons another copy from his Deck. Shard ends his turn.

(Olly LP: 7200)

Olly Tributes his Tengu to Tribute Summon Caius, the Shadow Monarch and targets Shard's backrow. Shard chains Torrential Tribute, destroying all monsters on the field! Reborn Tengu is Special Summoned from the Deck and attacks Shard directly! Olly ends.

(Shard LP: 3200)

Shard Normal Summons his Tour Guide and uses its effect to Special Summon Broww, Huntsman of Dark World from his Deck. He returns Broww to his hand to Special Summons Grapha from his Graveyard. He activates Gates' effect, banishing Fabled Raven from the Graveyard to discard Broww, drawing 1 card from Gates and a second from Broww's effect. Grapha attacks Tengu, and Tour Guide hits directly for 1300. Shard ends his turn.

(Olly LP: 4600)

Olly draws, both players at 4 cards in hand. He takes a few moments to consider the options, then Normal Summons Tour Guide, Special Summoning another copy from the Deck. He Overlays both monsters to Xyz Summon Leviair, the Sea Dragon. He detaches a Guide to Special Summon Shard's banished Fabled Raven.

Next, Olly activates Raven's effect, discarding Spore and Dandylion to raise Raven's Level by 2 and its ATK by 800. Dandylion's effect Special Summons 2 Fluff Tokens. Olly banishes Dandylion from the Graveyard to Special Summon Spore from his Graveyard as a Level 4 monster. He Synchs his Level 4 Spore and both Fluff Tokens for Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. With 1 card remaining in Olly's hand, he bounces Grapha and his monsters attack for the win!

The players head to their Side Decks to prepare for Game 2, and Shard will be going first!

Game 2

Shard starts with Tour Guide and Special Summons Sangan from his Deck. He Overlays the two Level 3 monsters to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines in Defense, and ends his turn.

Olly Normal Summons Reborn Tengu and Sets a card to the backrow, passing play back to Shard.

Shard activates Pot of Duality, revealing Doomcaliber Knight, Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World and The Gates to Dark World. Adds Gates to his hand and ends without another move.

Olly Normal Summons Glow-Up Bulb and Synchs the Level 1 with the Level 4 Tengu for Ally of Justice - Catastor. He Special Summons another Tengu from his Deck, and mills Mystical Space Typhoon to Special Summon Bulb from his Graveyard. He Synchs Catastor with Bulb for Brionac, and discards Reborn Tengu from his hand to bounce Wind-Up Zenmaines to the Extra Deck. Tengu and Brionac attack directly. He ends his turn.

(Shard LP: 4000)

Shard activates Gates from his hand and banishes Tour Guide from his Graveyard to discard Grapha from his hand and draw 1 card. Grapha's effect destroys Brionac. He Normal Summons Broww, but Olly discards DD Crow from his hand to banish Grapha from the Graveyard. His big play stopped dead in its tracks, Shard Sets a card to his backrow and ends.

Olly sends Tengu to destroy Broww at cost of its own life. With no more Tengu in his Deck, he Summons Doomcaliber Knight during Main Phase 2 and Sets a card to the backrow before ending.

Shard Sets a monster and ends.

Olly draws, bringing him to a hand size of 2. Doomcaliber attacks, destroying the Set Snoww, Unlight of Dark World. He ends.

Shard draws to 5 in hand. Sets a monster and ends again.

Olly attacks the Set DD Crow and ends.

(Note: This is a misplay on Shard's part. Shard forgot Doomcaliber Knight is a mandatory effect and could have gotten rid of it by activating Crow's effect from his hand. In fact, Shard's refusal to sacrifice a DW Effect to get rid of Doomcaliber likely cost him the duel).

Shard Sets a monster and ends.

Olly attacks the Set Beiige and Sets a backrow before ending.

Shard Sets a monster again.

Olly attacks the Set Broww. Sets a monster.

Shard Summons Doomcaliber Knight, but Olly flips Solemn Warning, paying 2000 to negate its Summon! (Olly LP: 6000) Shard ends.

Olly swings directly with Doomcaliber (Shard LP: 1800). Sets a backrow.

Shard sets a monster again.

Olly activates MST from his hand, destroying Shard's Return From the Different Dimension. Attacks the Set Tour Guide with Doomcaliber.

Shard Summons Doomcaliber Knight and sends it after Olly's facedown monster, revealing it to be a Spirit Reaper, which isn't destroyed by battle.

Olly activates Mind Control on Shard's Doomcaliber Knight, leaving his Field open to win the game, and the match!
After a prolonged second game, Olly's Tengu Synchro deck topples Shard's Dark Worlds 2-0! Good games!
