The second coverage match of Round 3 is pitting Olly Problem (Pot of Problem) against Michael Ojama (Boosterboy). Both duelists have been featured in previous rounds, a perplexing "pot of problems" in its own right, but let's see what duel these two can bring to the stage today!
The two first square off in a friendly game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, the traditional warm-up to the duel. Michael emerges triumphant and the two switch to a more modern form of combat: Card games!
Michael seizes the opportunity to go first.
He starts off by Normal Summoning The Agent of Creation Venus and activates its effect. By paying 500 Life Points, he can Special Summon a Mystical Shine Ball from his hand or Deck. However, Olly chains to this effect and sends Maxx "C" to his Graveyard! Now, whenever Michael Special Summons this turn, Olly can draw 1 card! This kind of play can force players to stop their plays short. When the first Shine Ball appears on the field, Olly draws, replacing the discarded Maxx "C". Michael ends his turn there, not wanting his opponent to draw more.
(Michael LP: 7500)
Olly Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh and attacks Venus. He then throws down two backrow and ends his turn.
(Michael LP: 7200)
Michael Normal Summons The Agent of Mystery - Earth, but with Rai-Oh in play, he can't search his Deck for its effect. Instead, he Overlays Earth with his Shine Ball to Xyz Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu. Rai-Oh could negate the Summon, but Olly lets the Summon go without response.
Olly takes his turn, Tributing Rai-Oh for Caius, the Shadow Monarch, activating its effect and banishing Gachi Gachi from the Field! This is not destruction, so Gachi can't prevent it! Caius wages a direct attack!
(Michael LP: 4800)
Michael banishes Agent Earth for Master Hyperion, but Olly flips his Solemn Warning! By paying 2000 Life Points, Hyperion's Summon is negated! But the excitement doesn't stop there, as Michael banishes Venus from his Graveyard to try to Summon a second Master Hyperion! This time, Olly flips Solemn Judgment! For half his remaining Life Points, the second Hyperion's Summon is negated as well! Michael Sets a monster.
(Olly LP: 3000)
Olly Normal Summons Tour Guide of the Underworld, and activates its effect to Special Summon another copy from his Deck. He then Overlays both Tour Guides for Leviair, the Sea Dragon! He detaches a Tour to Special Summon Michael's banished Agent of Mystery - Earth, and Synchs the Level 2 Earth with his Level 6 Caius to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon! He Sets Mystical Space Typhoon and activates his Dragon's effect to destroy it and Michael's Set Ryko, Lightsworn Beast. With his field exposed, Michael takes two direct attacks, dropping him to a meager 200 LP!
(Michael LP: 200)
Michael reveals Gallis the Star Beast in his hand and sends the top card of his Deck to the Graveyard. Master Hyperion is sent to the Graveyard, so Gallis is Special Summoned and inflicts 200 damage per Level of the sent Hyperion. Olly takes the 1600 damage with a grimance.
(Olly LP: 1400)
But Michael's not done yet! He activates the effect of Genex Ally Birdman from his hand, returning Gallis to his hand and Special Summoning Birdman. From there, he activates the returned Gallis' effect, sending Effect Veiler from his Deck to Special Summon Gallis and inflict 200 damage! He Overlays the Level 3 Gallis and Birdman to Xyz Summon his own Leviair, detaching Birdman to Special Summon his banished Venus. Because Birdman was an Xyz Material, it is not banished by its own effect, and gives Michael the opportunity to banish Birdman and Agent Earth to Special Summon Black Luster - Envoy of the Beginning!
With the arrival of the Envoy, the duel comes to its end.
Michael manages to come back from an empty field and 200 LP to win the first game! The duelists rush to their Side Decks, and Olly will be starting the second Duel!
Game 2
Olly starts by Summoning Reborn Tengu and a single backrow.
Michael opens with Agent Earth and tries to use its effect, but Olly discards Effect Veiler, negating the effect! Michael sets 2 to the backrow and ends his turn.
Olly Normal Summons Debris Dragon, activating its effect and Special Summoning Effect Veiler from his Graveyard. He then Synchs the Level 1 Veiler with Level 4 Tengu for Ally of Justice - Catastor! Reborn Tengu's Effect Special Summons another copy of itself from the Deck. Olly sends in Tengu to destroy Earth, and Debris Dragon to attack directly. Suspicious of the facedown cards, he ends his turn.
(Michael LP: 6300)
Michael sets a monster and a third card to his backrow.
Olly Normal Summons Spirit Reaper. Tengu attacks and destroys Mystical Shine Ball, and Reaper hits directly. Its effect randomly cleaves away the Heavy Storm in Michael's hand, and Debris Dragon strikes directly. Still suspicious of the facedowns, Olly ends without using Catastor to attack.
(Michael LP: 5000)
Michael draws and flips both of his Set Mystical Space Typhoons, destroying Olly's Solemn Warning and Book of Moon. He concedes the duel, revealing his hand to be a pair of Chaos Sorcerers, and his remaining backrow to be Solemn Judgment, and not the Dimensional Prison Olly was worried about. With no DARK monsters in his Graveyard, he had nothing.
Michael's poor draws in the second game costs him the second duel, and they move into the third and final game! Michael will be starting!
Game 3
Michael Normal Summons Agent of Mystery - Earth, and activates its effect, adding Agent of Creation - Venus to his hand.
Olly Normal Summons Tour Guide, but Michael sends Effect Veiler to negate its effect! Olly sets a backrow.
Michael Summons Venus and activates its effect, paying 500 to Special Summon a Shine Ball. He considers his options and bounces Shine Ball to Special Summons Genex Ally Birdman. He activates Venus' effect again, Special Summoning another Shine Ball from his Deck.
(Michael LP: 7000)
But he's not done! He Synchs the Level 3 Birdman and Venus, the former being banished due its effect, for Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! He sends a Shine Ball from his hand to bounce Olly's facedown card, and Overlays Agent Earth and Shine Ball for Daigusto Phoenix. He detaches Earth to allow Phoenix to attack twice. He then reveals Gallis in his hand, and mills Sephylon, the Ultimate Time Lord! The Level 10 monster means 2000 damage to Olly! He then discards Herald of Orange Light for Brionac's effect, bouncing Tour Guide to Olly's hand.
Then all of his monsters swarm in for the game, and the match!
This time, Michael's combos came in too fast and too early for Olly to have anything to fight back with, and he claims victory on his second turn! His Gallis Deck triumphs 2-1 over Olly's Tengu Synchro Deck!
Good games!
