Round 3 Feature Match: Klavier Gavin vs. Tristan T. Taylor

The first feature match of Round 3 is between Klavier Gavin and Tristan T. Taylor. Klavier is playing the less popular Karakuri Machina Plant deck as opposed to pure Karakuri, and Tristan is playing Gate HERO. Both decks have easy ways to put beaters on the board, but which deck will come out on top?

Klavier wins rock paper scissors and chooses to go first.

Game 1

Klavier starts his turn by playing Pot of Duality, revealing Trap Dustshoot, Solemn Warning, and Machina Gearframe. He decides to add Trap Dustshoot to his hand. He then follows up by Normal Summoning another Machina Gearframe from his hand, and searching for Machina Fortress. He sets a card and passes.

Tristan draws a card, and Klavier plays Trap Dustshoot! He looks at his hand, considers his options, and returns Elemental HERO Heat to Tristan's deck. Tristan then activates Reinforcement of the Army, adding Elemental HERO Stratos to his hand! He then Normal Summons Stratos, and uses its effect to search for Elemental HERO Neos Alius. It doesn't end there though! Next, Tristan activates Terraforming to add Fusion Gate to his hand, and he activates that. With Fusion Gate's effect, he banishes the Stratos on his field and the Alius in his hand to Fusion Summon Elemental HERO The Shining! The Shining is at 3200 ATK due to Tristan having two Elemental HERO monsters removed from play, and when The Shining is sent to the Graveyard, he gets them back. Tristan enters his Battle Phase and attacks over Machina Gearframe, dealing 1400 damage, and play is passed to Klavier.

Klavier Normal Summons Karakuri Komachi mdl 224 "Ninishi", and uses its effect to Normal Summon Karakuri Ninja mdl 919 "Kuick" from his hand. He tunes the two together to Synchro Summon Karakuri Shogun mdl 00 "Burei"! Burei's effect lets him Special Summon a Karakuri monster from his deck, so he Summons another Kuick. To follow up, Klavier discards Karakuri Watchdog mdl 313 "Saizan" and Machina Fortress from his hand to Special Summon the Machina Fortress he just sent from his Graveyard. Afterwards, he uses Burei's effect to switch Tristan's The Shining to Defense Position. Machina Fortress runs over The Shining, and Tristan adds Stratos and Alius back to his hand. Kuick and Burei swing at Tristan directly for 4300 damage, and Klavier passes.

Tristan starts off his turn by activating Dark Hole! Klavier's board is completely destroyed, and Tristan then Normal Summons Elemental HERO Stratos for the second time in this game. With Stratos' effect, Tristan adds Elemental HERO Ocean to his hand. He then banishes Stratos and Alius for a second Elemental HERO The Shining, who once again is at 3200 ATK. Shining attacks directly for 3200, leaving Klavier at a low 3400 Life Points to Tristan's 3700. Tristan sets a card and ends his turn.

Klavier discards Machina Force to Special Summon Machina Fortress from his Graveyard in Defense Position, and he Normal Summons another Machina Gearframe, adding another Fortress to his hand. He equips Gearframe to Fortress to protect is and ends his turn.

Tristan Normal Summons his Elemental HERO Ocean, and flips his set Super Polymerization, discarding Tour Guide From the Underworld! Klavier concedes, and both players start siding cards.

Game 2

Klavier begins game two by Normal Summoning Machina Gearframe and adding Machina Fortress to his hand. He then discards Machina Force and Machina Fortress to Special Summon Machina Fortress from his Graveyard. Next, he activates Foolish Burial, sending Glow-Up Bulb from his Deck to the Graveyard! Unfortunately for him, Tristan has D.D. Crow to banish it! Klavier sets a card, and considers equipping Machina Gearframe to his Fortress, but he decides not to and activates One for One! He discards Maxx "C" to Special Summon Spore from his deck, leaving him with no cards in hand. He tunes Spore and Machina Fortress to Synchro Summon Karakuri Steel Shogun mdl 00X "Bureido", and Bureido lets him Special Summon Karakuri Watchdog mdl 313 "Saizan" from his deck. Saizan and Gearframe are tuned together to Synchro Summon another Bureido! The second Bureido Special Summons Karakuri Strategist mdl 248 "Nishipachi" from Klavier's deck in Attack Position. Nishipachi activates, and switches itself to Defense Position, which causes both of Klavier's Bureidos to activate, giving him two new cards! Klavier sets both of the cards he just drew and ends his turn.

Tristan draws to five cards in hand and activates E - Emergency Call to add Elemental HERO Stratos from his deck to his hand. Upon Normal Summoning it however, it's stopped short by Klavier's Solemn Warning! Tristan then activates Terraforming to add Fusion Gate from his deck to his hand, sets two cards, and passes play to Klavier.

Klavier draws, and Tristan activates Skill Drain in his Standby Phase, paying 1000 Life Points. Klavier activates Monster Reborn, Special Summoning Machina Gearframe from his Graveyard, and using it and his Nishipachi to Synchro Summon a Burei. Tristan scoops and both duelists move on to game three.

Game 3

Tristan starts by activating E - Emergency Call to add Elemental HERO Neos Alius to his hand, and then he Normal Summons Elemental HERO Stratos to add Elemental HERO Ocean to his hand. He then ends his turn.

Klavier draws, and Normal Summons Machina Gearframe once again! Gearframe searches for Fortress again, and Klavier discards Nishipachi and Machina Fortress to Special Summon Machina Fortress from his hand. He then activates One for One, discarding Glow-Up Bulb from his hand to Special Summon Spore from his deck! Spore and Machina Fortress tune together to Synchro Summon Bureido, and Bureido Special Summons Saizan from Klavier's deck. Saizan and Machina Gearframe tune together to make another Bureido, and that Bureido searches for a Kuick. Klavier activates the effect of Spore in his Graveyard, banishing Glow-Up Bulb to Special Summon itself, increasing its Level by 1. Klavier uses Spore and Kuick to Synchro Summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! Klavier then proceeds to discard Pot of Duality to return Tristan's Stratos to his hand, and activates Monster Reborn to Special Summon Gearframe from his Graveyard! And with that, Klavier takes the match!

A strong showing from both sides, opening their key searching cards on the first turn through all three games. Klavier's Karakuris dominate however, as Tristan couldn't compete with their swarm.
