Round 5 Feature Match: Jesse Hall vs. Zen Vikuda

The first coverage of the fifth round pits Jesse Hall (Red W Mage/Chaosinfiniti) vs Zen Vikuda (Zen-Psi)! Both players are currently undefeated, but only one will come out on top! Let's hope they give us an intense fight!

Jesse is playing Malefic Geartown, while his opponent is playing Miracle HERO.

Zen gets the privilege of starting the match off, and his first play is Thunder King Rai-Oh and a Set card.

Jesse activates the Field Spell Necrovalley, and banishes a Cyber End Dragon from his Extra Deck in order to Special Summon Malefic Cyber End Dragon. Zen counters by activating Bottomless Trap Hole, destroying and sending Jesse's Sin Dragon to the same place as its uncorrupted counterpart. Jesse banishes Stardust Dragon from his Extra Deck to Special Summon Malefic Stardust Dragon, but Zen uses his Rai-Oh to negate the Summon and destroy it. Jesse has one final trick prepared, as he banishes another Cyber End Dragon from his Extra Deck to play a second Malefic Cyber End Dragon! This time with no barriers, it attacks directly, cutting Zen's Life Points in half with a single blast! Jesse sets a backrow to end his turn.

(Zen LP: 4000)

Zen sets a card to each zone.

Jesse activates Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying Zen's Dimensional Prison, and Sin Cyber End attacks, only to run into D.D. Warrior Lady, which banishes both monsters!

Zen activates E-Emergency Call, letting him add Elemental HERO Stratos to his hand. He Normal Summons it, but Jesse activates Solemn Warning, paying 2000 LP to negate its Summon. Zen sets a card to the backrow.

(Jesse LP: 6000)

Jesse Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh and attacks directly.

(Zen LP: 2100)

Zen activates Mystical Space Typhoon, taking out Necrovalley, and then flips Miracle Fusion, banishing his Thunder King and Stratos from the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Elemental HERO The Shining! It gains 300 ATK for every banished Elemental HERO, bringing it to 2900. He then Normal Summons his own Rai-Oh, and sends Shining to destroy Jesse's Rai-Oh, and his Rai-Oh to attack directly!

(Jesse LP: 3100)

Jesse concedes the duel after drawing.

It seems that despite Jesse's explosive opening, his Malefics couldn't compete with Zen's HEROs! Jesse will be going first in Game 2!

Game 2

Jesse sets a card to the Field Spell Zone and discards Gravekeeper's Commandant from his hand to search Necrovalley from his Deck. He sets a Field Spell.

Zen Normal Summons Elemental HERO Neos Alius and attacks directly before setting 2 cards to the backrow.

(Jesse LP: 6100)

Jesse activates Mystical Space Typhoon from his hand, destroying Zen's Dimensional Prison. He then Sets a new Field over his first, activating the effect of Geartown, and Special Summoning Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon from his Deck! Zen hastily flips Gemini Spark, Tributing his Alius to destroy Gadjiltron and draw 1 card. Jesse flips his Necrovalley and banishes Stardust Dragon from his Extra Deck to Special Summon Malefic Stardust Dragon! He attacks Zen directly!

(Zen LP: 5500)

Zen Normal Summons Crusader of Endymion, but Jesse flips Solemn Warning, paying 2000 to negate its Summon! He sets a backrow and ends.

(Jesse LP: 4100)

Jesse sets a backrow of his own and ends without attacking.

Zen Normal Summons Neos Alius and activates Gemini Spark from his hand, destroying Sin Stardust and drawing a card. He sets a card to the Spell and Trap Card Zone before passing play.

Jesse Normal Summons Breaker the Magical Warrior, which receives a Spell Counter. He then removes that counter to destroy Zen's Mirror Force. He attacks directly, but Zen flips Dimensional Prison, banishing the sword-wielding Spellcaster.

Zen activates Pot of Duality. He reveals Mind Crush, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Gemini Spark, and adds MST to his hand. He activates this new Spell to destroy Jesse's Dimensional Prison. He Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh and attacks directly.

(Jesse LP: 2200)

Jesse Normal Summons his own Thunder King and a Set card for defense.

Zen plays another Thunder King and rams it with Jesse's. His remaining King attacks directly, but it stopped by Dimensional Prison! We just can't seem to get enough of Thunder King and D-Prison this game.

Jesse banishes Cyber End Dragon to Special Summon his Malefic Cyber End Dragon! He wages a direct attack on Zen's clear field, and the watchers are certainly holding their breath, wondering if Jesse's dreams of victory will be stolen away by the advent of Gorz, but nothing comes. Jesse sets a backrow.

(Zen LP: 1500)

Zen draws Gorz a turn late and concedes! After such an intense game, what kind of duel can we expect in the tiebreaker? Zen will be taking the lead in this duel!

Game 3

Zen sets a Monster.

Jesse sets a Field Spell, and Summons Breaker the Magical Warrior. Thanks to its Spell Counter, its ATK rises to 1900. He attacks Zen's monster, only to find a Snowman Eater. Snowman's Effect destroys Breaker, but its 1900 defense is too hard for Breaker to defeat, leaving Jesse down a monster for nothing. He sets 3 to the backrow.

Zen activates Pot of Duality, revealing Bottomless Trap Hole, DD Warrior Lady, and Neo-Spacian Grand Mole. He adds Bottomless to his hand and Normal Summons Elemental HERO Ocean and attacks directly, then sets 3 cards to his backrow as well.

(Jesse LP: 6500)

Jesse uses his own Pot of Duality, revealing Malefic Stardust Dragon, Thunder King Rai-Oh, and Gravekeeper's Commandant. He adds Commandant, only to discard it to search for Necrovalley. He Normal Summons a Thunder King Rai-Oh from his hand, and attacks Ocean.

(Zen LP: 7600)

Zen Normal Summons Elemental HERO Neos Alius, and rams it into Rai-Oh. He then activates Monster Reborn, but Jesse flips Solemn Warning, negating it for 2000 LP.

(Jesse LP: 4500)

Jesse activates Mystical Space Typhoon, striking Zen's Bottomless Trap Hole. He then Sets Necrovalley over Geartown, Triggering its effect to Special Summon Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon. He flips his Necrovalley, and then attacks Snowman Eater with Gadjiltron.

Zen Normal Summons Neo-Spacian Grand Mole and attacks with it, but Jesse activates Mirror Force, sparing his Dragon from Mole's effect! Zen sets a backrow.

Those facedowns mean nothing before the Ancient Gear Dragon! Jesse attacks directly with Gadjiltron Dragon, and then Sets a backrow.

(Zen LP: 4600)

Zen passes.

Confidence shaken and nerves on end, Jesse presses on, setting a backrow before sending Gadjiltron Dragon to take another slash from Zen's LP.

(Zen LP: 1600)

Desperate now, Zen activates Heavy Storm, and then chains Starlight Road, negating his own Heavy Storm's effect, and Special Summoning Stardust Dragon from his Extra Deck in Defense Position.

Jesse at first tries to use Bottomless Trap Hole on this dragon, but is corrected. Starlight Road does not negate Heavy Storm's activation, just the effect. Therefore, Heavy Storm is still the last thing to resolve in the chain, and Bottomless Trap Hole misses the activation window.

Zen Sets a monster to complete his defense.

Jesse Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh, and Gadjiltron destroys Stardust. When Rai-Oh attacks, Zen flips Dimensional Prison, but Jesse counters with Solemn Judgment, paying half his LP to negate it. Rai-Oh destroys the facedown Neos Alius.

Zen draws, and reveals his set Miracle Fusion and the Forbidden Lance in hand before conceding the match. With Necrovalley in play, banishing HEROs from the Graveyard was off-limits, and with no monsters to defend from Gadjiltron, he was done for.

Despite Jesse's nerves near the end, he manages to pull a 2-1 victory over Zen's HERO deck with his Sin Deck! Good games, and what an exciting match it was!
