Round 5 Feature Match: CipherAdmin MirorB vs. Dante Sparda

The second Coverage Match of Swiss Round 5 is between CipherAdmin MirorB (Miror) vs Dante Sparda, pitting the power of HEROs against Synchrons.

Miror wins in Rock Paper Scissors and the match begins!

Miror activates Pot of Duality, revealing Sangan, Card Trooper, and Solemn Warning, and adding Sangan to his hand. He Sets a monster and 2 in the backrow, ending his turn.

When Dante draws, Miror flips Trap Dustshoot. He chooses to return Elemental HERO Stratos to the Deck, but Dante activates Reinforcement of the Army, retrieving his Stratos. He then activates Mystical Space Typhoon, taking out Miror's Bottomless Trap Hole, and then Normal Summon Elemental HERO Stratos! Stratos' effect searches out Elemental HERO Neos Alius. He then attacks Miror's Sangan with Stratos. Sangan searches for Dandylion.

Miror discards Dandylion to Special Summon Quickdraw Synchron. Dandylion's effect Special Summons 2 Fluff Tokens, and Miror Synchs his Level 5 Quickdraw with his two Tokens, Synchro Summoning Nitro Warrior! He then activates Reinforcement of the Army to search Doppelwarrior from his Deck. Nitro gains 1000 ATK by its effect, and attacks Stratos.

(Dante LP: 6000)

Dante activates Pot of Duality, revealing Miracle Fusion, Sangan, and Torrential Tribute. He adds Miracle Fusion to his hand, and Sets a monster and 2 cards to the backrow.

Miror activates Heavy Storm, destroying the Set Gemini Spark and Mystical Space Typhoon. Nitro destroys the Set Elemental HERO Neos Alius, and Miror sets a backrow.

Note: This is considered a misplay by Dante. If he had Normal Summoned Neos Alius instead of Setting it, he could have activated Gemini Spark to destroy Nitro and draw a card. By setting both, he couldn't do anything about Storm or Nitro.

Dante activates Miracle Fusion, but Miror counters with Solemn Warning, paying 2000 to negate the card! Dante Sets a monster.

(Miror LP: 6000)

Miror Normal Summons Card Trooper and activates its effect, sending Allure of Darkness, Solemn Warning, and Effect Veiler from his Deck to give Card Trooper an additional 500 ATK per card. Trooper attacks and destroys Elemental HERO Ocean, and Nitro attacks directly.

(Dante LP: 3200)

Dante passes.

Miror attacks with his remaining monsters, anticipating a Gorz, but none comes, and that's game!

Dante's misplay cost him when facing Miror's overwhelming Nitro Warrior! Dante will be going first in Game 2!

Game 2

Dante sets a card to each zone and ends.

Miror Normal Summons Card Trooper and activates its effect, sending Pot of Avarice, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer from his Deck. He attacks Dante's monster, which is revealed to be Snowman Eater! Its 1900 DEF matches Card Trooper's ATK, so it survives battle. Its effect then destroys Card Trooper, and Miror draws a card by its effect.

Dante Summons Elemental HERO Ocean and attacks directly before setting a backrow.

(Miror LP: 6500)

Miror activates Heavy Storm, taking out Hero Blast and Torrential Tribute. He Normal Summons Junk Synchron and activates its effect, but Dante sends Effect Veiler from his hand to negate the effect. Miror banishes Kycoo and Ryko from his Graveyard to Special Summons Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning! Its mighty blade cleaves away Ocean and allows it to attack Snowman Eater as well, leaving the way open for Junk Synchron to attack directly, drastically reducing Dante's Life Points!

(Dante LP: 5200)

Dante Sets a monster.

Miror Normal Summons Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer, and hope seems lost. Black Luster attacks the Set monster to find a Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, which targets and destroys Black Luster, milling 2 copies of Elemental HERO Neos Alius and Debris Dragon. Kycoo attacks directly and its effect banishes both Neos Alius. Junk Synchron adds to the attack before Miror ends his turn.

(Dante LP: 2100)

Dante activates Monster Reborn, reviving Elemental HERO Ocean. He Normal Summons Spore and Synchs both monsters for Magical Android. Android destroys Kycoo, and during the End Phase, he gains 600 LP.

(Miror LP: 5900)
(Dante LP: 2700)

Note: A wiser move may have been to revive Black Luster Soldier from Miror's Graveyard instead. Not only would he inflict much more damage, but he would destroy both of Miror's monsters.

Miror activates Allure of Darkness, drawing 2 cards and banishing Junk Synchron from his hand. He Normal Summons Doppelwarrior and Synchs his monsters for Junk Warrior! He activates Junk Warrior's Trigger Effect as Chain Link 1, and Doppel's Trigger Effect as Chain Link 2, Special Summoning 2 Doppel Tokens in Attack Position with 400 ATK apiece, and then Junk Warrior gains their ATK, giving it 3100 ATK! Junk Warrior destroys Magical Android and the two Tokens attack directly. During Main Phase 2, Miror activates One For One, discarding Spore to Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb from his Deck. He Synchs Bulb with one of the Doppel Tokens to Synchro Summon Formula Synchron, which allows him to draw 1 card. He ends his turn with a backrow.

(Dante LP: 1200)

Dante activates Reinforcement of the Army for Elemental HERO Stratos, and Sets a monster.

Miror activates Pot of Duality, revealing Solemn Warning, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and Soul Release. He adds Ryko to his hand and attacks with Junk Warrior, but Dante has a Set Ryko! He destroys Junk Warrior and mills Dimensional Prison, Solemn Warning, and Super Polymerization. Miror switches his Token to Defense and sets a monster.

Dante Normal Summons Elemental HERO Stratos and activates its effect, searching Elemental HERO Neos Alius. He then activates Super Polymerization, discarding Neos Alius and fusing Stratos with Miror's Formula Synchron for Elemental HERO The Shining. Thanks to Miror banishing the two Neos Alius with Kycoo, it has 3200 ATK. He destroys the Doppel Token and ends.

Note: This was also a misplay in my eyes. Considering that it was easy to predict the Set monster was Ryko, Dante should not have used Super Polymerization at all, and if he really felt it necessary, he should have attacked with Stratos before using Super Poly, to bait Miror's Set card. The better move would have been to Set Super Poly and use it during Miror's Turn, especially if he Flipped Ryko, to dodge the destruction.

Miror Flip Summons Ryko and destroys the Shining, milling Reinforcement of the Army, Lonefire Blossom, and Quickdraw Synchron.

He reminds Dante to retrieve his HEROs with Shining's effect. While this goes uncorrected because it was irrelevent, Shining actually misses the timing in this situation because Ryko's mill is an effect separate from the destruction of Shining.

Miror banishes Glow-Up Bulb to Special Summon Spore as a Level 2 monster, and Synchs his monsters for Armory Arm, which attacks directly to win the match!

There was just no stopping Miror in this match, and he pummels Dante's HEROs 2-0! Good games!
